The questions we pose determine the answers we get.
So many questions asked are grammatically acceptable and thus perceived as worthwhile.
Try answering this one for me, it illustrates the limitations of language in determining thought processes and therefore colouring our judgement.
I pose this as so many question I have read in here are about as semantically useful as this one.
To be worth asking, a question has to have purpose and direction in the information it seeks to ellicit.

You are so right-on, Philippa.
Except that your question looks like poetry, while many of the semantically inept questions look like they came from Bedlam Asylum.or they don't even look like questions.And Spellcheck wouldn't even help.

Language is the most fundamental part of our intellectual nature, shaping all of our world-view.

My answer to your question would be this:
"Because they CAN; and they
WANT to!"

or: "Because they have nothing else to do."
