A superpower is a state with the first rank in the international system and the ability to influence events and project power on a worldwide scale; it is considered a higher level of power than a major power. It was a term applied to the Soviet Union and the United States during the Cold War, although it was for a short time, in the immediate aftermath of World War Two, applied to the British Empire.
Currently, the by far most common belief among mainstream journalists and in the world of academia states that only the United States fulfills the criteria to be considered a superpower; sometimes, given the unipolar nature of the world, claimed to be a hyperpower [1].
China and India appear to have the greatest potential, amongst all the other nations, of achieving superpower or near-superpower status within the 21st century and are often termed as emerging superpowers.
The European Union has economic power comparable to the United States; as a result some consider that it too could emerge as a superpower (or indeed whether its economic power makes it one already, see below), despite not being politically unified.
Many others doubt the existence of superpowers altogether, stating that today's complex global marketplace and the rising interdependency between the world's nations has made the concept of a superpower an idea of the past and that the world is now multipolar.[

That is a self claimed title by the U.S.
There are other countries with the same warfare capabilities and maybe better.
The difference is that they have been the only ones evil enough to wipe out a whole city with a massive destruction bomb. The only ones that have pushed the red button....
The people that have always lived in the U.S. believe in the governments propaganda so bad that they actually believe everything they see. Specially on Tv..
Just watching international news from other countries can open any american's mind. Too bad they only got american news.... News controled by the government.
The land of the free????
There is no real freedom in that country. They buy your freedom with money. You just don't know it.
Like every country there are good people that live there and there are many cool sites and memorable places... but that doesn't cover the truth...

Because were the biggest and the BEST. Hence the word superpower. We have the capability to do whatever we want. We dominate every single country in the world when it comes to intelligence, destruction, power, wealth, technology, strength, sophistication and experience. Superpower in deed and don't think were anything less.

The United States has the most clout of any nation. This is the result of having the largest economy (highest GDP, #1 exporter of goods and services, #1 importer of goods and service), the largest Army, and a stable government.
