I don't know for sure. I've been depressed for quite a while, and in the last year I've been to the hospital four times and have been in a wheelchair since the first of the year. Depression runs in my family, and I really don't want to tell my friends how bad it gets. People just don't get it when they say, "Just get over it", or "Think happy thoughts," etc., do they? I finally gave in and had my doctor give me a prescription for Zoloft two days ago. I have to try something, because if I don't get past this depression I'm never going to get out of this chair. I really didn't want to take anti-depressants, I would love to be healthy and happy and drinking a beer with my buds at the bar. But, I finally realized that I'm getting worse and not better, and I have to take advantage of whatever is out there to help me help myself. I am hoping that 3-6 months will do the trick, get me back to exercising so I can walk, and then I can get off of them. Go see a doctor and tell them your problems and feelings. There are a lot of different meds out there, and I bet one can help you out. Good Luck!

Don't wait for circumstances to make you happy. You have to choose to be happy and work at it. First make a gratitude list. I suggest going through the alphabet. Air is for Air. At least I'm still breathing. B is for Bees and I like honey. Go all the way through the alphabet and spend a moment being grateful for every item you think of. Then think about the law of attraction. Negative emotions attract negative situations. Positive emotions attract positive situations. So think about what you want, not what you don't have. Think about what you want and feel how happy you are going to be when you get it. Don't wait to get it; start feeling it now. (It's like daydreaming only more so.) All that happy feeling is generating the energy that attracts the good things. Practice. It's hard to do at first especially if you imagine there is some value in feeling depressed but there isn't. Read Lyn Grabhorn's book Excuse Me Your Life is Waiting.

Depression is a brain chemical state-of-mind. Get something to eat that lifts you up - savour it deeply so that you dont have to have "seconds" or "thirds" and end up depressing yourself even further
Dont seek happy (they hard to find), rather, like being afraid of fear, bored with boredom etc. etc. ... Stop to take a really closer look at what makes you unhappy. Face it!!
This exercise is an everytime winner because
a/ if you know what makes you unhappy, then you can really do something about it
b/ if you dont know what makes you unhappy, then move on and pay attention to other things
c/ if you get more and more of a headache thinking about it, getting dizzy and confused, then "let go" and go to sleep ... and forget about it.
The aim of point a/, b/, c/ is to make the move to get on with your life much easier. Without these points, you feel just plain old stuck and depressed, am I right?

Being happy comes from within. I was depressed myself over a number of things after my first break up, for about a year. I got a book that helped me realize why I felt that way, mentally..not emotionally....and I learned to control it from realizing I don't want to be sad over the stupid bullshet going on around me all the time. Do some research, buy a self-help book, or just realize being depressed ****** wastes the life away.

the mind is a powerfull thing- it is hard if you went through
heartache to just be happy because the world expect
it from you.
take your time to heal, address each and every issue that's
making you depressed, and do something about it. Life is so very precious and can be gone in a second. I've been there.
Healing is wonderfull. Take care of yourself

If you can't even give us a thread to work with then how are we supposed to answer this question? I can tell you what makes me happy. Getting a six pack of pabst blue ribbon and chugging them down one by one and answering questions, but this info may not be of any use to you. Why not re-ask the question and add a little more detail?

Sounds like you could benefit from counseling. It really works, even if it's just to vent. Sometimes life is overwhelming and dealing with the stress and problems is important. The best way to do that is to see a therapist.
