There is some mystery although ratings was to blame.
There were three shows running continuosly namely I Love Lucy, the Lucy Show and Here's Lucy. Here's Lucy ceased production at the end of the 1973-74 season, thus ending nearly twenty-three continous years of Ball appearing weekly on telvision. Though it was widely reported at the time that it was Ball's decision not to continue as she wanted to pursue other projects), a number of sources through the years have stated that it was CBS that chose not to renew the series for the following season. The ratings had fallen during the final season, though Here's Lucy did still finish in the top thirty at the end of the 1974 season.

The show had run its course. There were a couple of follow on shows with mostly the same cast, but eventually the publics taste changed. I miss that show!

It's called progress.
We all miss that show. With cable and satellite and such, there is no end to the new programs that can take her place. Or like my teenage daughter says "times are changing, mom." I don't like it, but I must agree.
Hope

Gee could it be that because Desi Arnez and Lucille Ball have been both dead and divorced for many years have anything to do with it.

Hmmm... I'm sure it has nothing to do with the fact that Lucy is dead.
