Well, simply speaking, North Koreans danger is organized, it is a part of the central government, and if he were to try to make them disarm, they would almost certainly start a nuclear war. Therefore, he is going to take care of the easier problems for the time being, and home Kim jong dies somehow so he doesn't have to go against the whole north Korean government.

1- Americans are willing to support it. This is the only answer that matters. The President and the Congress are there to serve us, not the other way around. Our present administration is trying to reverse this, and our congress is doing nothing to stop it.
2- The countries we've invaded had no real ability to strike us. Remember 9/11 hijackers were mostly Saudis. North Korea has a massive military and quite possibly nukes.
3- Both countries had previously received massive funding from the US. The Taliban gov't in Afghanistan was still receiving US funding six months before we invaded. At some point, they ceased being useful to us.
4- Repressive gov'ts like Zimbabwe (and others around the world) don't have anything the US wants, so Americans won't support losing soldiers there. This is what most military leaders learned from the Vietnam war. What they apparently didn't learn was not to support oppressive regimes in the first place.
Peace.

Lets see. This world, i repeat, THIS WORLD is not just made of the USA. There are 250+ countries and Americans should realize by now which countries are really a threat to them.
Why in the hell would KOREA attack America? Your question is kinda strange. If N.Korea did develop a nuke and use it, then America would immediately eradicate North Korea by totally using their Nuclear arsenal.
Other countries should be scared of the USA. USA need not be scared of other countries. USA should respect other countries for what they are.
As for Islamic countries, there might be a hidden agenda. The main reason is, all Islamic countries are united within themselves. Thus if they have a few countries under their control, the USA can have a say in what the Islamic countries do.

Oil and beating up on countries that can't defend themselves.
North Korea has nukes - we don't attack them
Pakistan not only has nukes but has done a lot of the things we accused Iraq of, like giving the technology to anyone and everyone who wanted it.
Iraq doesn't - we do go after them.
What is the message here? If you don't want to be invaded by the U.S., get nukes.
Iran is a big problem, their president is appalling, and I don't want to see them with nuclear weapons, but unfortunately we have given them an excellent excuse.

First of all mrsgenerose is incorrect, the U.S. has invaded other countries without being attacked.
Secondly we are attempting to create a democracy in the Middle East to create stability yes for financle security which will be important many years down the road.
Thridly the fundamentalist Islamics are wild cards. Meaning that they will attack us without provication, simply because we are who we are. And though Saddam was a secularist he had the desire and ability to sell arms to those fundies. They hate us, they hate our freedom, they hate our lifestyles, they hate the fact that we have equal rights for women and minorities, ect...
Thus you deal with the most obvious threat before dealing with the others. North Korea likes to do a lot of sabre rattling, but China will keep them in check as long as they are getting American dollars and American investments.

There appears to be a general pattern in Congressional decisions regarding warfare. Very rarely has the United States engaged in combat as an aggressor (most of its containment programs were merely reactions to "threats"). Never once has Congress truly drafted a challenge against Communist encroachment. The U.S. government would rather save face in the eyes of the UN collective (mostly comprised of developed nations) than condemn the worst evils.

North Korea is a very touchy area due to their connection (alliance) with communist China. There is no longer a "super power' allying with Iraq or Iran. That is a very, very simple explination to your question. Military entanglement with North Korea could very possibly result in world war. Something to think about if you're advocating action against the North Koreans.

Simple. if you mess with N Korea You are messing with China. China has great economical interests in North korea. In the korean War, China kicked US *** becasue they where getting to close to North korea and passed some established points. Us wanted to drop a Nuke bomob to china for that, but everyone know what happens if you push the knob. So if Bush mess with N korea he's messing with China. No one wants that. Iran is alone, Iraq is alone and both has lots of OIL..

because we cannot just invade korea and take away their bombs, it must be voted on by the united kingdoms which america is part of. just like we had to have a voting on the invasion of iraq.
Also, invading the government of korea, is declaring war. We are already in a war, and we are in debt because of it. If we invade korea, and wage war, then it will drain even more money.
so you think guys think bush is getting oil in iraq to get rich?? Wow, you guys are really dimwitted, and thickheaded. WE NEED OIL. Not only does the US have to obtain oil for YOU THE CITIZENS OF THE US, but the US must also sell it to pay off war debts. i cant believe you guys say such short-sighted answers

They do not have fossil fuels in N. Korea, yes the threat is there, yes we know about it and we are ready to defend with anti-missile defence systems, but Iran and Iraq have oil, that is where the Bush family has made all of thier money and that is why we are so concerned about the middle east.
