I love orienteering me. Out every weekend running over the local hills getting lost. Great fun. If its new employee what I tend to do is get them to run round the office going into all the different rooms introducing themselves to people, who then stamp their map to prove they've seen them. We're on 5 floors and that really does sort out the wheat from the chaff. As its quite hot today I would make sure they take a bottle of water with them. The office record time stands at 23 minutes let me know if anyone beats that. Hope that helps

First, and foremost, a short introduction into what the company does and its goal in the community.
An overview of company policy regarding work ethics, pay, benefits, insurance and safety and dress code if there is one.
A visit with company security if a id card is required to be worn or be obtained
A walk through of the facility in general, so that the employee knows where things are, vending machines, cafeteria, health club, child care, etc etc
An informal introduction to the persons in the department the employee will be working with, by his or hers direct supervisor who can then brief them on their job etc.
A follow up in a week by the personnel person to find out if the employee has any questions

Depends if you have just one new starter or a group. Best to have a handout ready and remember that the first two days are really useful in the employee liking and wanting to do their best for the company. Fire regs, toilets, break times must be covered. Its also good to have a 'buddy system' so that they know there is someone for at least the first week to show them the ropes, introduce them to others, go on breaks with them etc.
