Why are you really asking this question?

Ha ha.. your kidding right.. If any gay person is intolerant of other opinions.. Its because we get discriminated against every day so unless you have lived a day in our shoes you have no idea what your talking about!
Hows about I take all your rights away.. You cant get married.. cant adopt kids.. cant have the right to turn your partner of 30 years's life support off.. once all these things have happened to you.. come back and ask why we are intolerant of different opinions!

I believe you got it wrong. If anything, I believe the gay community now some thing or two about tolerance. On the other hand, I also believe that gay people have a particularity about standing up for our beliefs, which sometimes might be confused for intolerance, where in reality is just a strong affirmation.

First I think you have this a little backwards! It's usually those with differing opinions that have the intolerace for gays. Next, if you come to Answers often and see some of the hateful and nasty messages put out there to the gay community then I'm sure you'll see WHY some folks in the gay community tend to get a little hot under the collar. It gets old!

They aren't intolerant. Anyone who spouts ignorance and mis-information and uneducated remarks is going to get a host of opinions from those more educated. If you were well informed and educated, then you wouldn't think that gay people choose to be gay or call homosexuality demented. If you think you have studied up on it enough, tell us what its like to have sex with a man. Feels great, doesn't it. If not, then go finish your homework and come talk to us when you can give us something to validate.

By which you mean intolerant of people who want to hurt and destroy people? Intolerant of those who harm their own children in an attempt to prevent them from being what they are? Intolerant of hatred, of crime, of prejudice?

Because those are the only opinions I'm intolerant of. I won't tolerate hatred, but I hate no one -- even those who hate me. Shuffle through the hundreds of these questions that I've answered, if you doubt me.

I even tolerate fundamentalism, though I don't accept it.

Is that perhaps what you mean? Why don't they ACCEPT those opinions? If that's the question the answer is that this is America, my family fought for America to exist, and one of the things they fought for was freedom of speech.

Those who hate us use that freedom all the time. I use it as well, to dispel the lies and the untruths and to point out the pious misconstructions.

I will continue to.

Reyn

Hey,

I can't say for anyone else, however I am intolerant of others who are intolerant of us. We have to put up with so much criticism from a majority of the population, and personally, I don't like to be abused or hurt. I don't know how else to respond to your question. I try to hold the mirror up. hetersexuals aren't the only people with feelings and needs.

There is intolerance. And then there is defending your rights.People seem to mix and confuse the two on the issue of gays.
There are intolerant gays here and there, just like in any minority group or any majority group. But the line I think you are confusing is that gays are not being intolerant when they defend their rights and ask for more equal rights with regard to being able to be in a legal union(marriage if you will) with their life partner whom they love. But there are groups of people in the majority in America who are trying to limit and even eradicate the equal rights that gays are seeking. So naturally the gays and their many supporters are going to rally in DEFENSE from these blatant attacks on who they are.
If the Bible is used the gays will use that book in defense of themselves and will question the validity of being judged by others view of morality. If family values is used the gays will show their version of family values and point out that hate isn't one of them.If morality is the issue then the gays are going to point out that ones version of morality is not and can not be the definition for all.One person may see it immoral to listen to rock music.Would you want that person denying you the right to listen to rock because of how they view the morality of rock? And finally, the issue of nature is used and the gays use science as their defense.
In the end the confusion here is that gays are not being intolerant. They are taking intolerance and defending themselves from it.They tolerate far more then you may think. They kind of have to.They are the minority after all.But they, and by they I mean we, will defend ourselves from those who seek to silence our struggle for equalization under the law for our families and our relationships and our beliefs and our morality and our understanding of the science of nature.
Thank you...

You are the one posting this question. You are the one who is intolerant. I don't see gay people posting questions like this.

I don't think I've ever seen a homosexual that was intolerant of someone who was against them. But I have seen plenty of websites like Godhatesfags.com and rallies about how homosexuality is an "abomination" to the Christian God.
