I think tragedy is something relative. What is a tragedy for someone, might be a blessing for someone else. I believe that tragedies in general make people stronger, because they know they've been through that and they can learn from their own mistakes. In my oppinion, we couldn't perceive happiness if there wasn't sorrow, for the same reason as we can't perceive white if we don't see black. But as after each rain a glorious rainbow appears on the sky, after each tragedy something good has to happen, and we see life with different eyes. We know how to cherish what we have, we know how to live life, we know how to appreciate the good things that happen to us. So I think we need both good and bad things in our lives, we just have to know how to cherish the good ones and if we perceive tragedies as some "cold showers", we will understand the best way of living.

I seriously can't believe that you take tragedy and pain as must-be state of life. Why is it so hard to accept happiness, and yet so easy to reach to misery? Yes, everything happens for a reason, but that's not a tragedy! When You accept there are NO MISTAKES, just the outcomes and results of certain action, and You know that everything in Your life is exactly where it should be, cause it's not meant to happen any different, when You realize that entire UNIVERSE is sworn to guide YOU through Your life to greatest progress of Your being, does that sound like a tragedy?

People wouldn't learn.
If by tragedy, you mean deaths and genocides...
There would still be tragedies, but they'd be something like... failing a test or losing five dollars.

dull, actually we woulnt be able to see the entire shade of life colors. remember thesis, anti-thesis and synthesis. withouth tragedy, a worthless or partly acceptable sense of good luck, boon, blessing, happiness, fortune you would have.

It would not be a true life lived. Everything happens for a reason. We may not understand it at the time or we may never understand it, but it is for a reason.

Life without Tragedy
is like the dawn without the sun.
is like the sky without the moon.
is like a rose without rain.
is like a ship without a sea.
is like food without salt.
is like air without oxygen.
is like life without a friend.
We get frustrated by tragedy, and hate our lives and ourselves, and start to curse everyone around not leaving God at times...
But without it life would be boring...
We always like things that irritate us..
Don't we?
