First a cop can arrest anyone,if he says he has probable cause.Even the President of the U.S.He can then put that person in custody,by simply putting him in handcuffs, likely to a solid object.Rail, pole Or whatever is near. Then ,he must follow correct, police proceedure, for his area,to transport the accused,to jail. To transport him on the bike would be a public safety problem. So another way such as police van or car must be notified.one last comment ,An arrested person,is innocent till proven guilty. And is not to be classified as criminal.Except maybe this President! He should be in jail for inciting Riots,by not acting to lower gas prices.

In philadelphia, Cops cannot put a person under arrest in any vehicle other than a van where the person is completely seperated from the officers. A cop in a regular car can't even arrest them...they have to call for the van, so a bike cop would have to call for the van too. Don't know what it's like in other places. My brother was pulled over by a bike cop for running a stop sign...don't think he'll ever live that one down.

they are likely just patrol officers, they would call for a transport, a car or van would arrive to take the offender to jail for booking, the bike cop moves along.

well, corina, as you may or may not know, these officers recieve special training which allows them to stuff small offenders up their butts for transportation to the local jail .large offenders accosted by bike cops, and who will not fit up the officers woo-hoooo are summarily shot in the leg and left to fend for themselves in the big city. hope thast helped.

they call a paddy wagon, or transfer unit. Or in small towns, they just call the patrol unit with wheels.
