I am trying to pronounce the word Sadalsudd, a star in the constellation Aquarius as well as many other stars that have arabic origins. This star is shown to be pronounced as: Sa'd as-Su'ud

How do I know if the vowels are short or long? Any tips on pronouncing these stars in english? Here is a list of them http://www.icoproject.org/star.html

I know there are websites that pronounce the common stars but the obscure ones I can not find any help from the web. Any thoughts or help are welcomed.

To me it matters I guess.. I just want to be sure of what I'm learning. Considering I thought the constellation Bootes was pronounced "Booties".

Unfortunately Sadalsuud is not in the first source, but it does have lots of others. However Wikipedia says it is pronounced Sa'd as-Su'ud.

My two favorite stars are Zubenelgenubi and Miaplacidus, i have liked them for a long long time, no other reason than i just like the names.

This doesn't help your pronunciation but in the world of stars and astronomy does it really matter? its not as if you will be insulting anyone if you mistakenly mispronounce one.
