I’ve been goth for the last twelve years and the only problem I’ve had with it is narrow minded people who think I warship Satan, sacrifice small animals, drink blood, think I need a haircut, think I’m some sort of retard because I wear black etc…
If you’re comfortable being a goth, then don’t let a bunch of cockjockies who don’t understand your lifestyle, disway you from being who you are. Live your life for you and no one else…especially strangers.

It's something you're born with. I enjoyed listening to Joy Division, the Cure, and Siouxsie since I was a child and didn't know who Ian Curtis or Robert Smith were (my cousins had MTV while growing up, I was fortunate to hear good music during that time). Halloween has always been my favourite holiday (more so than Christmas). I've enjoyed horror films more than any other genre since I could remember. You can't teach a child to be fascinated by the dark instead of afraid of it. An appreciation for the beauty in life AND death has to come from within. Embrace these things, don't hide them. Just don't become one of those annoying GTTs...

It may always be a part of you. I'm 31, and got into the goth scene when I was 16. I'm not very goth looking now, but it's still a part of me. I kept my goth/punk rock look til a year ago. I still like goth rock, and the style is attractive to me even though my style of dress has changed. Don't worry about it. it's no big deal.

What makes you want to get out of it in the first place? If you're not happy, you should do whatever you think will make you happy. If you are, then you should be who you are and enjoy it. I was in the "scene" for many years and my house is still decorated with skulls and candlesticks. It's just what I enjoy. I no longer dress the part or dye my hair purple, but I like black and I like the music and things like that. Hope this helps.

Agh, I just gave you a really long answer for a previous question of yours, and when I clicked the button... you deleted it! T_T Not cool...
It's ok, I'll answer this one now.
If it has become a part of you then let it be! That's the great thing about it! You're you. Like what you like, do what you want. Don't force yourself to like or dislike something else.

I think it's a silly way of getting attention from people. I don't know you, but if I saw you on the street I would probably think that about you.
