if you are on DSL in order to change your IP address you can usually turn off the DSL router/modem and restart it and and your computer, this will relinquish the old IP and gain a new one, at least it should unless you have a static IP, networks such as hospitals, businesses, factories, and schools have their own networks which the IP's don't change they are fixed.

Before trying any other methods to change your IP address, try turning off (or unplugging the power of) your Cable/DSL modem for five minutes. In many cases this will change your IP address. However, if that does not change your IP address, repeat the process for 8 hours (overnight works well) instead of 5 minutes. Hopefully this will result in an IP change.

If the above does not result in your IP address changing, please look through the below for the situation that best matches yours and attempt to change your IP address that way. Unfortunately you are not able to get your IP address to change in all cases, as it is ultimate determined by your ISP's DHCP configuration (when you've got a dynamically assigned IP address, that is.)

You may need to find an other sorce depending on your OS (What windows your useing.)

I do not think you should tamper at all with this because it could mess things up. I don't know how you would go about finding a Valid IP adress perhaps changeing. I would phone your ISP for example rogers. Sorry if none of this helped its the best I can do for now?

you can Right Click My Network Places on your desktop and select properties.
Then Right click Local Area connection if you're connected via an Ethernet cable and select Properties.
In the middle window scroll down to TCP/IP and click Properties.
This is where you can change your IP address on your local machine. You can only change it to an IP address that doesnt already exist on your local network.

Depending on the operating system Click on run and type command for win95 or 98. For win2000 or XP type cmd.
hit enter and a black box will show up. Assuming your network card is configured type in ipconfig /renew. This will release the current IP and assign you a new one assuming that you have dhcp configured. If you have any ?'s jensguy061205@yahoo.com email any time.
