I think in general the British are more polite and concerned about how behavior appears in public. Americans are more concerned with having their opinions heard, and they seem to put more emphasis on material achievement. These may be stereotypes, but it is what I have observed in life and comparing the way they express themselves on news shows, documentaries, comedies, or in real life. I have also heard that British are more reserved when it comes to meeting people, that they need introductions especially in the upper classes, whereas Americans are more likely to talk to people regardless of what class they are in.

Britons are not selfcenterd and do not try to convince everyone that they can save the world. they make their own lifes and doesn't interfere or try to be the best in competing like the americans, they cant even play rugby without the pads! what about cricket nor soccer!

I would wager that a lot of it has to do with the system of government they operate on. They have a monarchy, we have a democratic system. Different sense of social responsibility and conditioning over time. The language thing is no different than the variances in corporate lingo from place to place or terminology differences from one football team to another. One thing to keep in mind is that america is the very young, spoiled infant that whines and cries a lot in comparison to other, much older, established nations.

Well, a biggy is DEFINATELY food. I know you put it there, but food is such an impact on America, at least one third of Americans are overweight and one sixth of Americans are obese. That would make 100,000,000 Americans are at least overweight, and 50,000,000 Americans are obese. And, well... the British aren't so unhealthy.

Brits tend to be more informed and polite than most Americans. But they have a tendency to have a pole up their @$$ all the time.

Americans come off as self-absorbed idiots to most of Europe (not just the U.K.) thanks to Hollywood, Sports Stars, and greed.

I'm American, too. Unfortunately, I have to deal with the fact that there are hundreds of millions of losers in this country and hope that their stupidity isn't contagious.
