With some of our troops on two and three re-deployments, they are in much need of a rest. The more often these same troops are re-deployed, the greater the chance that they will be injured or killed. I hear a lot of people saying this war is the right thing to do so I think that you should be willing to put your convictions to the test. These men and women willing went into the military. However, the numbers are down and so is recruitment. How many of you are considering enlisting or have already done so? And why you have, will or won't.

Well big mouth, they're taking guys up to42 years old, so what's stopping you??? You're all talk, just like the other right wingers who are willing to run their mouths while others do the dirty work. And yes, I did serve, I finished my hitch before you were born. I volunteered when I was 17, even though I disagreed with that war too. Maybe it was dumb, but I thought it was my duty. Not to the government, but to the other guys fighting over there. Kind of like when you have a loud mouth buddy that starts a bar fight. Even if he's wrong, you feel a duty to help him when he's getting his *** handed to him. I think that may be one reason some people are enlisting now. The majority (I think) are enlisting because the right wing war machine has convinced people that it's the patriotic thing to do. The only problem is, that none of their family members are over there getting killed. Respect the Warriors, but not the war!

I served in the military for 5 yrs, and now I'm back in the States.
I support the troops 100%, but hate a president that conducts illegal and unjust wars.
- 15 of the 19 9/11 terroists were Saudi from Saudi Arabia.
- Osama is a Saudi
So, why are we in Iraq?
If the answer is WMDs then why didn't we go after N. Korea? We know for sure they have WMDs.
How do we know? Because when I was in the military they fired rockets over Japan when I was stationed there. Testing their systems maybe?
If it's for freedom - then who's freedom? The US?
Iraq never invaded us. The Iraqi peoples' freedom? They don't look like their in good shape right now. Seriously, would anyone like to take a vacation over there?
The list goes on...

Better yet why doesn't Bush send his daughters to help with the cause? How about Cheney's daughter (I forgot Bush doesn't want gays in the military). What about Rumsfeld's kids? Has anyone gotten any letters from the front lines from Limbaugh's kids?
I guess war is o.k just as long as they don't have to fight in it. They'll just leave that to the middleclass and the poor.

If not for the drawdowns of the 90's, the military wouldn't be as taxed as it is now. I know that politicians as well as civilians just see the military as a monetary black hole which can easily be reduced to pay for social programs. However, we're now learning (or at least we should be learning) what the true costs of military drawdown are.
