It's 4th of July!! What COULD and SHOULD we do as good citizens and AMERICANS to celebrate our INDEPENDENCE DAY...?

Well, since my sister and I are both singers, people usually ask both of us to sing our national anthem: "the Star Spangled Banner"! I'm used to sheding my tears (almost) everytime I sing this song... its lyric is soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo nationalistic!

Anyway, what would you all do then... for the Land of the Free and Home of the Brave?!?

(Hopefully) GOD (still) Bless America!!!

Share some of those BBQ goodies with the homeless and/or starving children and families we have here in America that no one wants to talk about.

Drink beer. Lots and lots and lots of beer. Beer is what made America great. And unfortunately American values, as embodied by our national brands, are under attack everywhere in the world and even here at home. PBR, Stroh's, Rolling Rock... these names should be on the lips (and tongue) of every red-blooded American patriot on this holiest of holy days. When you're at the 7-11 stocking up for the backyard b-b-q, pass up the case with the Heineken and say "no, not today" to that to that big blue oil-can of Foster's (yeah, I know Aussies are almost Americans but still...) Today, of all days, drink American. Like Washington, and Franklin, and hell, like good old Sam Adams! Drink drink drink and drink some more. Then get up the next morning and go to work, you lazy creep.

Maybe march on Washington and ask Bush to bring our troops home? July 4 is celebrating a day for American Independence, not Iraqi Independence. If we can fight for our own independence, and win, Iraq can too. God bless every one of our men and women over there and bring them back safely!

~Stage a rally to pull the troops out of Afghanistan and Iraq. Stop thinking listening to a song or saluting a piece of cloth is a partriotic act. National hubris feeds the machines of war.

Stop for a moment and THINK. Think about whether America is really still so good as it used to be. Think about all the terror and woe that your troops are causing in the world. Think about all the damage the mass-over-consumption is doing to our mother earth. Think about your radical capitalism which leaves people, who don't have money for health care, to die on the streets. Think about the suburbs and ghettos and slums, full of angry, job-less, poor people, hating and killing eachother.
Think for a moment, try to shake off that glorious, brain-washed stupor that your self-righteous government is trying to push you into, open your eyes and see your big, ruthless country in its real colours.

When you stop screaming, think what you can do to make it a bit better.

My friend Keith and I both visit the VA Hospital on the 4th. as well as on Memorial Day, visiting the bed-ridden war vets. Believe it or not, a lot of them don't get many visitors and we try to bring them a little cheer.

Write one email to your congressman and one to each of your senators, stating your position on whatever issue is most important to you. They usually send a letter to your house in response, stating their position and why.
