I feel like a grandma in a 21-year-old body. I have to "dumb myself down" around a lot of people my age. I read lots of books and love classic cinema. I like jazz from the 30's and 40's (and even earlier), R&B from the 60's, and rock from the 70's. My idea of sexy is Marilyn Monroe, not Paris Hilton. I'm extremely interested in theology and politics. I have a conscience and know plenty of ways to have a great time without making an *** of myself. I find the majority of today's media disgusting and/or disappointing. I feel too many of today's parents just aren't doing their job. I worry that our country's going to hell in a handbasket. If this makes me old-fashioned, then I guess I'm a cavewoman.

"I used to be with it, but then they changed what 'it' was. Now what's 'it' seems weird and scary to me."
-Grandpa Simpson

"Why do we need NEW bands? Everyone knows rock n' roll attained it's perfection in 1974. It's a scientific fact."
-Homer Simpson

Sweetie do not Ever, Ever dumb yourself down, especially not for a man or to fit yourself in with a group. Your cool mom, who you will learn is cool in a few years, and she will be your best friend, will tell you this. Be your beautiful Self! And you ARE beautiful, just as you are. Took me a while to learn this and the love of many women friends but I see it now, thank god in heaven and praise Her, lol. If your grandmother is still around, talk to her, she will tell you straight up, just as my cajun mamaw did me. Bless you my young friend and enjoy that beautiful body of youth- shine on! I'm 21 too, and people mistake me as older.

I don't smile as much due to my condition, but I'm working on that with smile therapy each day (personal, not going somewhere and getting treatment).

Listening to music nowadays feels odd. Only a few years ago, popular music was fresh and what someone would call "good". Now, it's regurgitated material with a different cover.

I've lived in times where there was no internet. Now I live in a time where kids can't remember what it's like with no internet.

We're the old, 1984 crowd, I presume. I wonder if there's a specific appellation for us.

I am only 26 but I feel like I belong in a nursing home, I have no energy even to eat and that is sad since food is why I exist. I wake up about 3 pm, lay there trying to coax myself out of bed to do what I must do and then look for any excuse to just go back to sleep. I can't even talk out loud because it takes too much out of me.

Short answer, I am too young to feel this damn old.

U and me are wat i call "old souls" its like we've been thru life b4 and now that just b/c we dont drink 21 shots on our 21st bday does not mean we wont b successful and happy in our lives. we value the little things and the old things. I am 14 and read scientific journals and want to become a lawyer so i follow law trials carefully. my other friends, however, just care about getting new abercrombie and fitch clothes and if their bfs got them juicy for their bdays.
Do not feel as if u have 2 dumb urself down. U just have 2 find other people like u. its not hard. I had one until this past september.

I'm not real young but I'm not ancient either but YES. I am tired all of the time, sometimes I don't have energy to do anything. I get depressed and I see other people my age working, going to school, playing with their kids, etc. I don't know. I have a great life but I am just tired all of the time. I used to go out and be social, not anymore. I just don't want to.

Yes I have felt like that before. Mean you are a adult and can really think for yourself and not what the world wants you to think.
Music and movies have went down hill...
I'm with you and I know what you mean.

YOU ARE RIGHT ON. THE WORLD IS SPINNING SO FAST THAT I FEEL LIKE I AM LOST SOMETIMES. THE KIDS WEAR THEIR PANTS HANGING OFF THEIR A$$, SPEAK THE WORST SLANG MIXED WITH CUSSES, CAN'T COUNT CHANGE AT THE SUPERMARKET, THE NEWS IS DOOMSVILLE, THE COST OF EVERYTHING IS OUT OF SIGHT, TECHNOLOGY IS LEAVING MY GENERATION BEHIND,
THE GIRLS HAVE NAILS AND STAKES COMING OUT OF THEIR FACES AND GREEN OR PURPLE HAIR, MATCHING THEIR COUNTERPARTS WHO ARE TATTOOED, WITH HAIR THAT SEEMS LIKE IT HURTS, OR ELSE THEY'RE BALD[BY CHOICE] I FEEL THAT IT'S WE WHO WERE "IT"...BUT I REMEMBER MY MOTHER SAYING THAT MY MUSIC WAS CRAZY, AND MY STYLE WAS WEIRD.
I AM WITH YOU. I AM OLD AND IN THE WAY. I SAY OLD HIPPIES NEVER DIE, WE JUST FADE AWAY.
GOODNIGHT GRANDPA.
