Yup. I work at a drycleaner, and comfortors are no problem, and there is a special chemical that gets blood out no problem.

I would remove the blood stain first by using hydrogen peroxide. Simply fill the cap of the bottle with peroxide and then slowly pour it onto the stain. This will remove the stain. Then, send to the dry cleaner for a complete cleaning.
I would not recommend washing the comforter at home. If your washer is not large enough, the rotating action will push your comforter into the black seal around the wash tub and leave a black mark that will not come clean.

You can dry clean a comforter.
To remove a blood stain yourself, use Oxy-Clean. Put a scoop in a bottle and fill the bottle halfway with hot water. Spray and blot until the stain comes out.

Well it depends. If the comforter is down, then yes but it has to be a real 'dry clean'. Some dry cleaners say that they dry clean when they actually 'wet clean'. If it's a non-down, and is a poly filled comforter than you can clean it how ever you want although some chemicals break down the poly fill more than others. When I need to clean comforters with blood on them, after I've had "guests", I usually just have it dry cleaned or burn it. But that's me.

Use Hydrogen peroxide to remove blood , rinse in cold water do this a few times don't dry it until it is gone. This could take awhile, then take it to the laundry mat in one of the huge loaders and wash it unless your washer is big enough.
If is says to dry clean then take it to the dry cleaners, they should know how.

Hi, You can have it dry cleaned. You also can get out blood stains with liquid meat tenderizer. Which you have to get from your butcher.

Blood stains must be treated immediately upon being discovered. If one waits very long, the stains will be soaked in and nothing will remove them.

Sure you can, show them at the desk when you take it in and they can mark it with tabs to remove, or you could remove most of it with ice water before taking to the cleaners. Either way the stain may be removed but not the DNA.

If it needs to be drycleaned, take it to the cleaners and be sure to tell them about the blood stains. If they are aware of the stains, they can often remove them.
