To the poor misguided soul above me, Star Wars is NOT an adaptation. The books and comics were created after the film was so successful.

The only truly good adaptations I have seen are:

Fight Club
Alice in Wonderland
Lord of the Rings

I cannot judge on the superhero movies, because I have never read their comics. However, my comic geek friend was so angry at X-Men 3 that he backed his car into a cement column in the parking garage after seeing it.

V for Vendetta and Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy adaptations were disappointing, but still ok.

I really like the Spiderman movies, the Hulk, X men, Holes (from the book), Dare Devil, Batman Begins, Harry Potter (the more recent ones) just about all of the comic book ones but some of the movie adaptions for books just didn't cut it for me.
