Jimi Hendrix practically idolized Eric Clapton. Check out some of Cream songs, and you will see how Jimi got his virtue from. So whose better singer and guitar player? Figure it out yourself.

First, it is hard to compare a dead man with a live person, but ill tell you what I think.

I belive that Clapton would be the better musician, because he had lots of experience with many bands.( Yardbirds,Cream, Derek & Dominos, Himself).

Hendrix is would probably be the better guitar player, because he kept trying new things that people havent tried with a guitar.

Clapton would also probably be the better singer, but it is a very close call. the reason I pick Clapton is that he is still alive and sounds good.

They are very different in the way they sing and play guitar. I personally think Eric Clapton is more talented. However I like him in the Cream days not so much now.

Hendix is a better guitar player because he was able to do things no one was able too..yet at that time. When he played, there was a feeling of hmm wow, ijust cant explain it.. i guess a sense of freedom because you feel like you are on top of the world flying..( i guess that is why majority of the people were high when listenting to his music. To enhance that feeling) Wow he was very talented with the guitar.
Clapton is a very good singer. Guitar player too, but his sounds are more sensual and relaxed. Defiantly not for woodstock but more of a party or social event as music to mingle too.

I think that both guitarists were excellent at their craft. I think that Jimmy Hendrix was WAY ahead of his time. Eric Clapton has longevity on his side.. He survived the partying.. Jimmy wasn't able to survive it. Both artists are on my private little favorite guitarist list. I think Eric Clapton is more musically in tune singing. I think Jimmy was way too high to be as in tune and on pitch.

You really can't compare the two. I like BOTH, but I would have to say Jimi Hendrix was a better player and singer.

My favorite song is ALL ALONG THE WATCH TOWER...

Hendrix was a more of an innovator than "just" a player. Just like...

Chuck Berry
Les Paul
Edward Van Halen
Carlos Santana
Neal Schon

Who 'was' you ask. Eric is still with us you know. i believe Eric is the better guitarist. i can see y people would think Jimmy is the better talent because of his style of guitar playing at the time but if you appreciate clean smooth guitar riffs then Eric is the man. Vocally Eric and Jimmy are so so and nothin special but im deffintly going with eric on the guitar talant thing.
