Dear MK,
It sounds like you have a classic case of plantar warts. You might
try an over the counter remedy that seems to have some success.
Most drug stores and even some grocery stores offer medicated
foot pads that contain salycitic acid. Apply these as directed and
replace the pads at least twice a day, preferably morning and night. If the pain is to great, also get some foam pads to place over the medicated pad, this will help keep pressure off the site.
If the skin is softened use a foot stone to remove the loose skin.
This treatment will take several days or even weeks to work, but short of seeking medical help, this is probably the best to offer.
Remember, don't use any sharp object to trim away the loose skin, only the foot sander or stone. IF THE AREA BECOMES
REDDENED, OR PAIN INCREASES SIGNIFICANTLY, OR BLEEDING OCCURS, OR YOU NOTICE A DISCHARGE FROM
THE AREA, GO DIRECTLY TO YOUR LOCAL ER, DO NOT PASS "GO", DO NOT COLLECT $200, GO TO THE ER FOR
TREATMENT. INSURANCE OR NOT, THEY MUST TREAT YOU.

You have plantar warts. Over-the-counter stuff won't help, as these kinds of warts have long roots to them. The roots grow down around the bones in your toes/foot; and that's why they hurt. I had them as a kid. They have to be removed by a doctor. Don't be cutting on your own foot ! You'd NEVER be able to get at the roots anyway; and the roots must be removed or they will grow right back at the skin surface. That's not only stupid advise from that someone, but very dangerous and you could lose that foot ! Call a local health clinic and see if they can help.

I think That One Girl has the right of it. My grandmother had corns. She used a razor blade to keep the things trimmed and then put those band-aids with corn medicine in them over the corn. She controlled them, but I guess a doc has to cut them out to really get rid of them. I think.

You need to get rid of it soon. It might be a corn or something...my mom has that, and her nurse friend told her to cut it of. We're still trying to find out how.
