Yes, It is believed that body fat percentage is the trigger for the menstrual cycle. Some researchers have discovered that menstruation cannot start until the body weight is about 105 pounds or until body fat is about 17. At the start of menstruation you can get pregnant, so your body will not menstruate if you are not able to safely carry a healthy baby.

Also girls that are very athletic may have delayed menstruation, due to the amount of certain hormones the body produces.

I didn't weigh much when i was your age either, and I didn't get my period till I was 15. It's perfectly normal for people to develop and grow at different rates.

You may not, because you need at least 12% body fat to have a normal period. The body does this so that the chances of getting pregnant are lower, as it would be hard to support the mother and developing fetus on such low reserve. Just because there is no menstruation, does not mean that you are not ovulating/can not get pregnant.

You're very underweight. However, no periods is a sign of malnutrition, not being underweight. You may need to review what you are eating and maybe see a doctor and have a blood test to see if you're under par for a particular vitamin.

Yes. Anorexics and sometimes athletes stop getting their periods. It means that something is wrong, and you need to do something different before it becomes serious. Talk to your doctor.

I've heard of very athletic women like runners not getting their periods. I don't know if being under weight has any thing to do with it.

That can happen. Also, even if you're not underweight and you exercise very frequently it can cause that. (I don't see anything wrong with it though. Less unnecessary discomfort for you, right?)

Well, I'm not sure if you had your period and then stopped or if you are just wondering. Stress and athletics can make you period stop.
