Is it because that country has nothing to offer us?

Pacman I hear this all the time and I think that statement comes from self centered people. Most of our problems in America are from people being irresponsible and the government cant solve that.

Ok I am getting all of the same type of answers, but if you went their for a week and met the people and seen those poor children you would all agree with me. I pray that God will put a burden on everyone's heart that gave negative ansers tonight to help the needy.

Liberia & other African nations are in dire need of help, but
our gov. sees no monetary reward for helping them.
Unfortunetly, there will be consequences from our neglect,
because the people in charge have lost the ability to
think forward. It's very disturbing.

There will be no reward for Iraq, but, there could be great gain
from helping the African nations if people would just open their
eyes.

I wish I could help anyone in need.I can't even help myself very well in the USA.I hardly can do anything for myself even with a full time job I have a hard time feeding my family and with the gas prices so high I can't ever have enough gas from each pay check being $55.00 to fill it every week.As far as starving people all over the world It's really sad because we have lots of people here that are homeless, starveing,Ect.We can't even fully help our own people fully. The USA rules us and we never know completly what there up to.THey say its secret undercover on a need to know bases. The courts always rule in the governments favor. We don't know what truth is being kept from us.Even if its on the news you never get the full truth on TV.At least thats what I believe. So far we've been safe under the gov.Wing ..but are we?I feel like we just go with the flow or die.

It is because Liberians, not Americans, have an obligation to tend to the circumstances in Liberia. After the Liberians, it is the mission of the African Union to manage such situations in Africa (at least that's what they say). After the AU, it is the responsibility of the United Nations. It is absurd to expect our government to try to improve conditions in every corner of the globe without placing at least some responsibility on the people who call those corners home. What makes you think the US has any such obligations anyway? Doesn't the US government have plenty of misery at home that it could be alleviating? Why don't you stop asking silly questions and go help Liberia yourself?

The US isn't responsible for every country in the world that is having problems. If you think we should be helping them out, contact your congressman, hold a fundraiser, or do something to help.
We don't just help people that can offer us stuff, but right now, I think we are spread pretty thin in the helping others catagory. Especially with all the disasters we are dealing with in our own country. Floods, hurricane cleanup, fires, and other stuff like that.

No, its because that country is run by corrupt leaders who hate America and wage gorllia war fare everywhere they can. That country uses most of the aid the UN gives it to buy weapons from the black market, and you wanna give them more aid to improve? Do some real research on Liberia and you'll see why we don't help them out.

As you said, America has nothing to gain from liberia (or rather, American Politicians)...same as with the genocide occuring right now in the DARFUR region of Sudan. That is why I cringe everytime Bush says we must "stay the course in Iraq" to bring FREEDOM and DEMOCRACY to the Iraqi people.....BullSH*T!
