you are quite right, it is confusing and complicated. Any instructions I give here will be generic and very similar to the user manual instructions, and since I don't have personal experience with the tech I can't talk you through it myself. Best I can suggest is to take your phone to your nearest phone retailer and ask them to talk you through it in person, right there. Take notes on the procedure if you must, but It is very important the retailer has personal experience with that exact model of phone, and you are there with him in person!
