Picard, no doubt. He was always the one who seemed most competant.

You forgot Benjamin Sisko (DS9). But my captain is and always will be Kathryn Janeway. Kirk's consoles looked like they'd fall apart if you touched them, and Picard's only emotional episodes (except when his brother and nephew died) happen in the arms of much younger women--same story over and over. I like Sisko, but he started as a Commander and will always be one in my mind. But Kathryn Janeway is a truly three-dimensional character. She struggles, she commands, she feels, she adapts, she grows, she mentors, she learns, and she teaches. She meets struggles no other StarFleet captain ever faced with more courage, strength, and success than all the others put together. She is a strong, kind, courageous, smart woman who never gave up. She is a role model for all Trekkies (especially female Trekkies like myself).

Jean-luc Picard became in an entire different type than any of the others - you will be able to desire to truly have confidence he became a starship captain merely as lots you will be able to desire to think of him as a captain on a vessel interior the royal army, properly knowledgeable, smart, intuitive and in command.

I loved seeing a woman in authority, and doing an excellent job at it! Kathryn Janeway was always my favorite, and I adored her so much when I was younger, I used to role-play with my two best friends (who also loved Voyager) and I was always Janeway.

Picard was the most professional out of them all. Even though it's a fake futuristic genre, which I enjoy immensely, I am an officer.

The original James T. Kirk, even if it all seems so hokey now.
But he's even better as Denny Crane on Boston Legal.....his best role ever.

I would have to go with Cpt. Sisko.
If I had to chose form the three you mentioned, I would go with Picard.

I feel I could serve under any of them but Picard is my favorite. Authoritative, yet caring, arrogant yet mostly correct. Always maintaining the proper image yet revealing inner warmth. And I love his pointy bald head!
