It is disappointing, but not altogether unexpected. We'll just have to enjoy being in contention for a change. If I had another kid, I think I'd name him Bronson at this point.

As for the Indians fan who ripped on Phillips, I thought the reason we got him from you for nothing was that you were foolish to give up on such a promising young player.

Much more exciting than the All Star game to me is the prospect of seeing all the Reds in the playoffs. And the new owner has said he'd be more willing to spend if they're still in contention, so I'm really excited to see if that's true. Think how scary the Reds could be in another month or six weeks if they go out and get another pitcher.

So, in short, don't sweat the disrespect from the All Star voters, the sour grapes of Indians fans or being overlooked by most of the rest of the country. Your reward may be yet to come.

David Ross is a part time player. Part-time players don't go to the All Star game. Phillips is sixth in OPS among NL 2nd basemen. While Dunn deserves the All-Star spot more than Andruw Jones, Brad Hawpe deserves it more than Dunn. Griffey doesn't deserve a spot. And Harang isn't one of the top ten starters in the NL.

So, in conclusion, the Reds deserved one spot on the All Star team, and that's how many they got.

Not really. Arroyo has been pretty good and deserves to be there. But everyone else, though having very good seasons, are eclipsed by other players around the league. Just because you like the Reds doesn't mean that the NL team should have the whole Cincy lineup in there.

It is a shame that good teams generally don't get rewarded with more all stars... that's one of the drawbacks of the requirement to have at least one player from every team.

I think that Tigers fans, who also have only one player represented (pending the result of the vote for the final spot), have a much bigger beef than Reds fans though.

Just not Todd Coffey. Completely worthless today after they came back with 3 in the top of the ninth.

I think there are one or two Mets too many, but there are a lot of great players having good or better years for other teams.
