I always bought my kids' and myself snacks when I took them to the movies. We had a blast sharing them, watching the movie and spending time together. If your mother has a problem with you buying snacks for your daughter, take her to the movies yourself and don't put any emphasis on what mom thinks. This is your child and you are the one raising her. She's only young once.

I'm sure there is more to this story, but I only have the info you gave me.
Based on that, I'd say probably it's not the snack that was the problem. Your mother wanted to spend some time with her grandchild, and do something nice for her. When she called home for money for a snack, your mother was insulted. She felt like your daughter didn't appreciate what she was doing. If you gave in to your daughter's demand for money/a snack, then you took the wind out of her sails, and she didn't want to take out your daughter anymore. I can see how she would feel that your daughter is spoiled.
You should teach your daughter to be more gracious.

No..you did good thing!! the problem is you and your mom have different way to raise the child...she doesn't like yours and i think she is over reacted when she found out you are too love your kids and spoiled them much money....maybe she just shame at her self that she couldn't do that when she was at your age and gave you much money when you were her little child.
If you do not want irritating her and respect to her...be a humble,...come to your mom and ask her apologize....promise that you won't do that again.
But if you are with your kids without your moms being with you,...do not doubt to give your kids anything they want...but do not cross the line...as long and much as you can give to them...when you are not able to give them anything anymore according to financial or age then you will not sorry about that.....
And i think your child will reply the same when you are getting old...they will loves you much and give you much as you have done to them.
Good Luck

I don't see anything wrong with it as long as the kids are not snacking too much to the point that they don't even have appetite for the regular meal, or to the point that they get sick

oh gosh your mom should get a life.., next time tell her to shove it up her ***, and that you appreciate the thought but you treat your children the way you want to, with love and care, if you want to give em snacks theres nothing wrong with that, shes the one overreacting to such a lil thing and she shouldnt tell you what to do with your life or kids anymore, youre totally capable of doing things yourself..

OUCH! You're mom has something going on there. Sorry your daughter has to be in the middle of it! I don't think it's that big of a deal for you to buy her the extra stuff at the movie......as long as she says "Please" and "Thank you" and it isn't expected. :-)

Put it bluntly:
They're your kids, not hers, and if she wants to not spoil someone, tell her to adapt and not to boss you around.
Remind her that you're always open for advice, but not dictatorship. MAKE SURE SHE UNDERSTANDS!
