I really feel pity that Beckham won't lead England Team any more, and I can't imagine what situation that it.

Because in his 58 games as captain England had under achieved with the players at their disposal. If you look at the stats he scored one goal prior to getting the captaincy and 16 after. This is because he gave himself all the free kicks. But in recent years his free kicks have been poor and this area of his game was his strength. without that he is just another wannabee. I think too many people look at his captaincy through rose tinted glasses. England should always qualify for the finals of major tournaments - they are after all always seeded and placed in qualifying groups with weak opposition. But to only reach the quarter finals in the last 3 tournaments shows a lack of leadership both on and off the pitch.
In short Beckham jumped before he was pushed.

Simple ... England, as a team, has to change to win and that must start with the Captain. Beckham, in my opinion, is an honorable man and recognises that and has done something about it. I am not a great football fan, but I see the same faces over and over again .... we need new blood, more dynamic players and I think Beckham sees that and simply doesn't want to lead a second rate team again. Let's hope that McClaren builds a better team around him!

In his news conference, Beckham said ""It has been an honour and privilege to captain my country but, having been captain for 58 of my 95 caps, I feel the time is right to pass on the armband as we enter a new era under Steve McClaren." Beckham will be 35 at the next World Cup so he thought it was time to move on.

He has also stated that he had been planning to resign as captain for some time.

i am very happy that Becham decided to give up the captaincy. He is an average football player ...and he has never showed significant leadership qualities. He is the captain, but he can never control young players like Rooney and under his captaincy..just look at the match records. They are horrible.
Beckham is just a prima donna...and he is not even the best looking guy on earth (and his wife isnt the best looking chic on earth either)..so whats the big fuss.

I was surprised too but I think he's finally realised that the only way to win a major competition is to cheat. I think he and the rest of the lads are too honourable to do this so his hand was forced. I think we should thank David Beckham and the rest of the team for their good example in the face of appaling CHEATING! (are you listening 'Not the real' Ronaldo?!)

I dont think i could give you the answer to your question but i guess maybe he's contemplating retirement soon? No doubt he is a great footballer and was captain of the english team for 6 years. Thats a great effort if you ask me!!
