I think between Beckham and Sven, the men never showed their true grit - and I am glad Beckham and Sven have stepped down.

As always ...... England talks the talk but they NEVER once walked the walk. It is time that the world realise that England is an average football team and the only reason why EPL teams are so popular are because of players like Cantona, Thiery Henry, Crespo, Vialli, Gullit and so many other world class players who are NOT English.

the entire problem rests with Sven. He followed a master plan as a metanarrative, without making sufficient changes acording to the players. If u remember, the English performance of 2006 resembles very much that of 2002 and 2004euro. The english team always relied on the early goal they scored ands applied the trick never concerned of the beter attacking potential that the English has.
Sven didn't realize to the end that the English can't be the italians, given that both the teams play and is constituted in different ways. U can't expect people like Beck and Neville to physically handle the opponents, and whenever they do that, they are easily caught.

I agree with the commentator and the media that they have not shown their full potential! they have not played has people who watch english league and see the true potential of these player! gerrard, lampard! etc!

these players have not shown us! there magic! the shots that were expected from Gerrard! did not happen!

Rooney is a ignorant person! i am a big fan of the lad! but i think he should see a psychitris or something!! he is crazy!

England had the game in the bag! lampard throw it away by missing is penalty! and gerrard do the same!

it make one starting to think that these english players are just club players and are not tournament players!

Joe cole and ashley cole are the only two players i saw that play their guts for their country! lenon! too! lenon should be a starter as he is very skill! and athletic! fast!!

and the couch put on someone for Joe cole to Kick penalty and that guy bush is penalty! So ironic!! that guy should have scored!

i think the england need the confidence that criatiano ronaldo has!

and the england fans put too much in rooney! yes he is a good player! but the ratings he got far exceed is potential and performance!! he is not that good!

English soccer has always been dominated by a few power centers (beck n' rooney in this case) and this has been the main reason for the debackle.........Its high time that Mr. Eriksson should be ' rested ' as Theo Wolcott was.........Rooney ,Gerrard & Lampard were more of a dissapointment in the W.C........Gerr n' Lamp missing penalties was a shocker......This was the best ever chance for Eng. to win the cup but they've really made a mess of it

Absolutely atrocious showing at the World Cup. Lucky to get as far as they did. Things will improve in a new direction with Gerrard as captain and new manager. Definitely need a bit of rebuilding time but should be good at the euros

I thought they did very poorly, despite winning their group. From the very beginning, England wasn't up to its usual standard. They got one lucky goal after another. Lampard and Rooney had a horrible tournament. (Lampard- 480 minutes played 24 shots 11 on goal 0 goals.) After barely squeezing past Ecuador, they lost to short manned Portugal. I am glad that this unentertaining and poorly performing team is out of the Tournament.

Their performance was totally as expected. They have a squad of great players but allow themselves to get way over confident and they lack the disipline needed to win major competitions.

They were crap as they are every tourniment, without being mean they have no chance of winning the World Cup or the Euros, when there are so many better teams then them (ie france, brazil, italy etc etc).

It's good enough, I think Beckham might be very sad, well I'm so sad too.
