And what did you think and what are your recommendations re. tavernas, etc? I will be in Naoussa this summer - did you visit the town? What was it like?

Naussa is the best place, far better than Parikia (which is the port you arrive to if travelling by ferry). The little town is a typical example of a cycladic island: white houses, colourful doors and windows (usually blue) and lots of flowers. Good to photograph!Most of the restaurants and tavernas are very tourist-oriented, best choice will be to follow what Greek people tell you, they know better. However, as someone else has said already, Antiparos is better still (quieter and less "touristy"). You can take a ferry from Parikia, or from Pounta (it's even closer, there's one every twenty minutes and it's a 15 minute trip). Go to Kolimbithres while in Naoussa, there are several small beaches and there is a boat-taxi service from Naoussa port. Lots of other beaches, it depends on what you like. It might be better to rent a car or a moped, it will give you a lot more possibilities, and mopeds are not extremely expensive.
And, as Paros is the the Cycladic centre of ferry connections, if you grow bored it won't take much effort to change island!!

Paros is very nice I've been there many times (I'm Greek) Naoussa is the best place in Paros. If u're going from 5-20 Aug it's going to be VERY crowdy there thousands of bars/restaurants/Taverna I definitely advice u to eat at a fish taverna at the center of Naoussa called "Tsahpinis" a bit expensive but I guess it worths it! The main town is almost full of foreigners so it's almost non-Greek don't really like it.
By the way VERY close there is a small island called Antiparos u should visited. It's less crawdy and very nice beaches also there are some more islands close enough but I don't know what are your prefernces or if u like to travel ...

I came back from Greece a few weeks ago now. I only stayed in Paros for the evening, so didn't get to see much of it. But what I did see I liked.
Also had the best meal there!!
If you can then go to some of the other islands too. Like Mykonos, Naxos, Santorini.

I am Greek and had one of my best holidays in Paros, Naoussa. I agree with all of the people above. I would personally suggest to go there if you are single, it is more fun otherwise I suspect you will get depressed if you are just with your partner...it is traditionally one of the holidays you are taking after high school if you are Greek...Alternatively...just half an house away (with the ferry) is Naxos island which is a great place to visit with your partner or a group of friends! A lot of diversity and many places to go and visit. A few of the little traditional villages are amazing.

i stay during summer on paros...
it is a very nice place to make your vacations and the people are very hospital...
you should go...
