I think it's wonderful to be white. I am proud to be white, and I'm also a proud descendent of a Confederate Soldier. I get burned up because society is trying to teach my children to be ashamed because they are white, the whites did the slavery thing...blah blah blah. Hello? I wasn't there, and neither were my kids so get off it. Oh, thank you so much for this wonderful opportunity to sound off. I respect anyone that works hard, is honest and does the best to raise their family in a Godly way.

Yea, you've got a strong point. But why be proud of the skin color of your body? Did you make it that color? Is it something you have any power to change? Is it something you can keep by forcibly holding on when the reaper comes knocking? If 'no' to all this, then why pride?
Pride of race is a mistake for any person of any race. There's no achievement in it, so all pride in it is false; a wisp of smoke.
Any racial pride is still racist, no matter what the color. If the issue is race, then it's racist. This is not rocket science.
This is what is wrong with being proud to be white (or any color). It *is* racist.
The other problem is that the popular trend is to ignore the racism when non-white people display racial pride and racism...it seems at times that only whites are held accountable for such racism.
But watch, this is changing too. There's a door up ahead for every single one of us. And we can only get through it by leaving all racism behind.

Is being white the only thing that you can be proud of? I would think that you could value your accomplishments more than you could the color of your skin and excuse me but Caucasian might be the better word.I mean "white" do a test! hold a piece of "white" typing paper next to your arm, face what ever.Does your skin color closely match that of the typing paper? hmmm I didn't think so!
I chat in an IRC chat room,I've chatted there since 1997 and there are many in that chat room that have become very close friends and I have no idea what race they are.And it doesn't matter! What matters, what makes our worth is the person we are.The way we treat one another, showing respect simply because the other person is a human being. Being "white" doesn't make you do good or bad things, being black doesn't make you do good or bad things, same goes for Chinese,Mexicans,Latinos etc. The good or the bad is in our hearts, and all hearts pump red blood! Being kind or lending a helping hand, giving a crying child a hug.those things don't come from the outer skin, they come from within!

I don't think you can be proud of anything you have no choice over. You didn't choose to be white, so I don't think it's something to be proud of, the same as an Asian person can't really be proud to be Asian, or a straight man can't be proud to be a straight man.
When situations arise because of decisions you've made, then you have every right to be proud. Example - when I bought my house, I was very proud to be a home owner, because I chose to work hard, save up and buy it. I'm proud that I have a good group of friends because it means that at least some people think I'm a good person.
Not being proud of something is not equivelant to being ashamed. If something is out of your control and therefore is something you can't be proud of, by the same token it's nothing to be ashamed of.

Racism is defined as thinking any one race is superior or inferior to your race. Pride in your race is not racism, but it's hard for people not to be racist, because all humans like to think that they're better than others.
You might indeed be racist, but so are sooo many of us. I'm black and I wouldn't trade my heritage for anything, but that doesn't make me racist. You're proud to be white, and there's nothing wrong with that, but the fact that you have no control over that changes things. You see being white as being a blessing, which means that in your mind you understand the advantages of being white in America. That's not wrong at all.

You have raised an excellent question. I did assume u were racist and, that is why i read your post.
America as we know today was built by different races, different people. But, the foundations were laid by white people, lets face it. It is a melting pot. And non whites like me work in America today because of what it is; due to the contributions of all the races. However, be proud of yourself, what you are, and what you have achieved; not what your race is, and what your ancestors have achieved.

I could never understand the whole concept of being proud of being white. I definitely understand being proud of your Italian, Scottish, Welsh, Irish, German, etc.. heritage. I'm definitely proud of my Spanish heritage and family. I always enjoy a good world culture festival (mainly because of the gumbo).
I guess it's fine only as long as you don't go as far as claiming that you are a part of the master race and that all other races should succumb to your power. If that happens, we're all screwed.

There is nothing wrong with saying that...however generally when you hear someone make a statement such as this it is followed by a deragatory comment directed at another race.
But then again who cares what people think...I know I don't and most other people would probably agree. Say what you want when you want to how you want too...this is America woot woot! As long as you don't offend anyone...which is the minor issue that will always be debated!

Being proud of what you are isn't racist. White supremacy has eclipsed that fact, so if you're white, then you can be misunderstood that way. People need to not jump to conclusions. Heritage is harder to keep in touch with nowadays, cultures who have mixed or lived in different countries than their ancestors have that challenge. That applies to all Americans.

No one is assuming you are a racist for posting your question except yourself. Maybe part of you is but dont want to admit it and that is okey, you dont have to be ashame because almost every race dislike a particular race. Dont worry about other people, be proud of who you are and accept other race unconditionally.
I am Asian

You may not be willing to admit it, but the way you are putting it says that you are racist... you're coming off as being proud to be white, but if you suddenly became some other race then you would be ashamed.
