the reason i ask is because i think my roomate is either using my conection or breaking in to my room and using my computer. i dont think he knows my password to connect to the internet. is there a way to tell? theres things on my computer that i know for sure are his and i lock my door when ever i go somewhere

he would have to be using your computer, if it is on his computer, then it would not show up on his,
if you fon't want him to access your stuff put passwords on everything. Put up a screensaver, it uses a user password so he won't be able to pass it without your password

Try changing your password. He might know it. Also, make sure you turn off the guest profile in Windows. You don't need a password for that. In other words, he could log onto your computer as a guest by not putting in any user name or password. Make sure there are no other profiles on your computer, while you're at it.
Sharing a connection will not put the same thing on both computers.

Hard to say, depends on what type of OS you are using. Get a firewall program like zonealarm form download.com. it is free and blocks unwanted usage. You can also confront him or shut the internet off completely when you leave

No. He won't see what you see on your computer though he could have set up a remote connection to log into your computer whenever he wants. Make sure you have no remote desktop connections set up and make sure your firewall is turned on.

It depeounds on weither or not you are using a hud or you have to connect through another computer. But normaly no it wont slow things up.

The same things should not show up on different computers unless he is using your computer or tapped into it.

If both PCs are in the same workgroup, then he could see your files on your computer if you have file sharing enabled.
Change the name of your workgroup and make sure your firewall is on.
