If you know what you're doing and you are sure you can afford the added expense, go for it. Ferrets are social creatures and they will enjoy each others company. And they are fun as heck to watch.. However, you HAVE to be able to house them in separate cages for 1-2 weeks before you allow them to have unsupervised contact. You need to put the cages where they can see and smell each other, but cannot get at each other. AND you have to quarantine the new ferret, or you should for a little while before you even let them get that close to make sure he isn't introducing any disease.
Vet bills for ferrets can run pretty high especially as they get older, because ferrets can get all kinds of diseases like insulinoma, lymphoma, adrenal disease. So start putting money away.
I just adopted #3 and 4, two boys and they are now sleeping in a huge cage with my two girls. They play fight but get along great.
It is a little bit messier, but you can deal with that as you go. I know I have.
Why not check out petfinder.com. That's where I found my boys.
Good luck.
