I played 3 years High school linebacker...5 years college.
I weighed 175 at 6 feet 1

bench press...at a minimum...your body weight.

time in the 40 should break 5 flat...my first year in college I ran a 4.4 consistently.

To play on my Defense at 18 - i count how many times you can bench press 200 pounds.

My youngest linebacker is 19 and can do it 10 times.

Shuttle times are important too...and I don't have an available comparison for you....but I will tell you this...if you have a good "football head" and can flex quickly...it won't matter.

What defense do you guys run and what positioned linebacker will you play specifically... my favorite position was as Rover in a 4-4 or Will in a 4-3. I also played Right Defensive end because I could eat a QB before he'd complete his 4th step.

I would have to agree with rob. Play madden also, seriously. seeing how plays work and how players "might" react during game time can help. i think Football is more brains then braun . I wish I realized that in high school. I focused too much on strength and out on the field I could not catch anyone and didnt have the understanding of reading my keys or the game itself (bad coaching).
I wish I knew then what I know now.

Dude ... I know you want these answer. But really, they are irrelevant. Thinking about them too much could lead you to "enhancements" that are bad for you now (acne, mood swings, chicks hating you) and bad for you later (no testicles, cancer, no brain and liver).

The best thing to do is time yourself now, and train as hard as you can, and then measure your own improvements. AND, don't forget to THINK football. Spend sometime on the field visualizing play action passes, sweeps, draws. Train your mind, and your body will follow. Your question betrays a good brain: keep using it, keep training, and you'll be an asset to any team.
