Okay, so maybe marriage may be out of the question, but what about a gay union which could serve like a marriage and the couple could benefit as married couples do. What do you think?

I think it's perfectly fine. It's not affecting me personally and gay people can do what they want to do if that will make them happy.
I don't think others have the right to tell them no just because they say it's wrong...What it is is none of their business.

Being a married guy, I truly believe in the definition of marriage that I grew up with & that is between a man & a woman. Sorry, I just can't change my feelings.
Now ... a gay union is nothing new. You want the benefits of a marriage, and for the most part, that wall has been broken, but not yet torn down. There are already provisions made to accomodate domestic partners. Give it time. You will get your benefits. Hell, this country is so liberal, you will probably get better benefits than married people, if you don't try & force it down America's collective throat.

I was adopted by a gay couple who were together for 25 years before one of them died from a heart attack. Marriage wouldn't have changed a damned thing.
I don't understand what purpose a marriage really serves anyway. It's a trivial ceremony. You've seen the overwhelming success of straight marriage haven't you? Read the statistics? You want to see more divorces and watch more tax money used to pay the courts get washed down the drain?
I once asked my parents if they wanted to get married and the response was: "What the hell for?"
Legal matters after the death of my father Ron were simply taken care of with his will.
I suppose if straight people do it then in a country of supposed equal rights, homosexuals should be allowed to as well but to be honest, I think the entire thing should be reconsidered legally and marriage should be kept in churches and casinos where it belongs.
As for religious matters, judge not lest ye be judged. Further more, I've been around gays and never once watched a gay person force his gayness on someone else like religious fanatics and fundamentalists try to force their simplistic, misguided fundie bullshit on other people. You tell me who's morally bankrupt...
You are in no position to speak for God, what's more, I find it inconceivable that anyone could really believe that an all-powerful God would really concern himself with my parent's sex-life.

I think u already know the truth, at the end of the day. It's not a marriage, so that should let u know that it's wrong. Genesis 19, God destroyed Saddom and Gomarrah because of the homosexuality, and sexual sins. Not tryna go all bibilcial on u. But for real, really i'm agaisnt anything gay. or homosexual. But i dont hate gay ppl at all because they are ppl. and there are alot of reasons why ppl are gay.

NO NO NO!
Why can't people leave well enough alone. Why now attack marriages. It was never a right, but a privlege. Why can't people look at the basics of humanity. It takes a man and a woman to populate the earth. With gays, our world would DIE! We are created with specific parts for specific purposes. Gays devalue everything!

It takes a sperm and an egg! One from a man, and one from a woman! Not two sperms from two men or two eggsfrom two women!

I, as a hetero-married female, personally think that gay unions should be allowed along with benefits that married couples enjoy. There of course would be some sort of partnership that would require a legal proceeding to part, like a divorce. So...it's ok with me, che'!

I think that all people have the right to be happy and be with the person that they love. I think that gay people should be able to enjoy the benefits of marriage. I don't think it's fair to tell two people they can't be married because of their sexual preference. I think it's time for this contry to move into 2006 and accept people for who they are and let people live thier lives and be happy.

If the civil union had all the same rights as marriage, then the gay would nto be complaining as much and the religious right can have thier word back. Buts its nowhere near the same rights.

I think its beautiful, as any wedding would be. If 2 people are in love, they should be able to express it s any couple would. I dont comprehend how anyone can not accept this. To me, someone who thinks its wrong for 2 people of the same sex to be together probably dont agree with 2 people of different races being together. And thats just sad.
I hope someday this world can accept everyone.

I see no conceivable reason why loving, caring relationships should not be supported, in whatever form those relationships take.

For anyone who says only heteros can marry because that's how the Earth gets populated, I have to ask: does that mean infertile hetero couples can't get married either?

I don't think gay marriages should be aloud, that's not what marriages were designed for, they were designed for man and woman, it even says so in the Bible.

And before you call me a gay basher I have friends that are gay and they know my views I love them, but I don't have to agree with their live style just as they don't have to agree with mine.
