I'm sorry to break the news, but the Ganges river is heavily polluted with human feces, half-cremated bodies, and industrial and human waste. if it is ever pure, it is so only at its headwaters in the Himalaya mountains.

Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati rivers are from himalaya. Himalaya is a residence of bhagwan shiv. Ganga has come from the head of bhagwan shivji so it is called ganga. Ganga water can be kept for years and you will not find any germs in that/.
