If you would wash dished from a small basin and rinse sparingly, then the dishwasher uses more water.

If you are like me and hate doing dished, then you let the water run to get it over with as quickly as possible. The dish washer uses less water in this case.

I use the dishwasher whenever I can!

The modern dishwasher uses about 3 gallons of water, whereas washing dishes by hand uses about 20 gallons, give or take (depending on individual circumstances, of course).

Your dishwasher also has its own hot water heater that heats the hot water coming from your water heater.

Yes it is using less water ~

Then washing them by hand.
The high pressure of water spinning ~ washes the dishes faster, there for using less water!

( hope that convinced your honey to buy one for you )
Just joking ~!

it does save on water,
not to mention the water is much hotter ~ there for. killing more germs off your dishes~!

The water is from your hot water heater, same as the tap. so it's not hotter. But it uses electricity so is not a green solution.
