I am on section 8 housing in the state of Kansas. If you live in this state or if you can let me know what state you are in I will do whatever I can to help you get out of the situation you are in and it doesn't sound like a good one! This program has been really helpful to me and I will do whatever it takes to gets somebody else out of a place that they don't need to be like i was in. Section 8 put me in a nice three bedroom 2 bathroom apartment with a dishwasher, fridge, stove and washer and dryer hook up where the untiles are cheaper than you would find anywhere else. If you want to email me I will help you find the information you need to get you and your grandson on your feet again!

Yeah, you have to apply first at the housing authority near you call around to find out it really depends on where you live there is always a wait you get placed on a lst and you have to check your number where you are on the list now that is for a house but the other is for an aprartment government usually not the best of where you would want to stay because they let anybody stay in those but you have to do what you have to do. esspecially if it is a serious situation. Thats what I know for a fact but check into it

I think you have to go to your towns housing department and fill out some forms and get put on a waiting list , eventually you will receive section 8 and then can start looking for places that accept it , the homes themselves can vary just like any other apartments just depends weather the landlord will accept it .
