First download one of the IM programs ( Yahoo for example ) intall the program and sign in using either the same account you are using right now to post in here or register a new one .

Simple : Follow the steps below :
- Download and instal yahoo im from www.yahoo.com
- Lainch the Messenger
- Sign in with your name and password.
- Add contacts - say your friend whom u want to IM.
- When he is also online - you see the name in bold letters - else in normal letters.
- Right click his name - or double click. Send meesage - type in the message and click send - or press return.
You are done !!.

First of all, you must download the messenger from the same company as your e-mail account (the links are below)
Hotmail - MSN Messenger (http://messenger.msn.com)
Yahoo! Mail - Yahoo Messenger (http://messenger.yahoo.com)
AOL - AOL Messenger (http://aol.messenger.com)
Once you have downloaded the messengers, sign in with your e-mail accounts to the selected messenger and select Add Contact. Add the e-mail addresses of your friends and keep signing in to check if anyone is online. Once they are online, double-click on their name to start an Instant Messaging conversation.
