I have a couple of videos that are in AVI format. Where can I get a "codecs" thing for my Windows Media Player or where can i get a player that will play .avi files? Thanks!

Here is something good to know. Just because a file is in AVI format, you cannot simply tell that it requires a particular codec. A CODEC is a compressor/decompressor that is used to filter video. Windows Media Player will attempt to download a codec for the file. When you see this message, that download fails.

Solution: You need to find out what codec was used to make the AVI file. If you just start downloading codecs, it may or may not work, and you may or may not screw up the playing of other video files on your system!
