Nelly Furtado did change and do you know why? Indie-type, girlish, Alantis Morrisette hits Death Cab For Cutie type records don't sell nearly as much as fast paced, dance oriented, cheap hooks, lame overused beats and thumping bass records do. BIG BIG BIG Record companys try to change artists to sell more records.
Some music enthusists call the act of drasticly changing your style of music to corespond with current trends, "selling-out." I like artists that are true to themselves, and don't sell out for the extra cash, stay true to who they are.
Maybe Nelly woke up one morning or had some expereinces where she suddenly wants to be a hip-hop goddess that inspired everyone to look up the word Promiscuous. Unlikely, BIG BIG record companys suck and want MONEY with no questions ask and no care for the art.
Sorry you had to listen to rants, this is a sad sad fact in the music industry and another reason why this crappy kind of hip-hop/rap should die. Music isn't based on cheap hooks, lame overused beats and thumping bass. It's based on your experreinces so you write heart fealt lyrics about your stories and thats passion. Music is(should be) passion.

i actually think it is a good song what other artist what have the balls to put out a song like that?..it doesn't mean she has changed i think she wanted to try something new...if anyone was paying any attention she did a perfomance with missy elliot a few years ago which was ******* fantastic!! and people should download a song of hers called "**** on the radio" it was just a prelude to hip-hop which is one reason i became a fan of hers in the first place...as long as she continues to be creative i say keep up the good work!!

Drastic change. I kind of liked her back in the day because she actually seemed like a real artist, unlike Britney Spears and the other pop stars who were big at the time. Now she's just like every other hip-hop ho.

she is a total sell-out.
just because her last album didnt do as well she thinks she needs to get all hip hop/urban/lame. whatever you want to classify that under on us. she used to be so indie and earthy. i want the old nelly back. now she is just conforming. im glad someone brought this up becaus i was just about too.
