you might have asthma or else allergies they will only act up in certain conditions. I know how you feel, I get short of breath from time to time and we found out that it is seasonal asthma and I have to take a nebulizer from time to time. Just don't panic when it happens because it will get worse, just relax. I had to go to a respitory specialist to find this out, maybe that is what you need to do.

Dear Softballin9:
There are many factors that could be involved with the condition
you describe. Not enough info to give any kind of specific advise.
Your age is a factor, medical history, diet, how strenuous the ex-
ercise, etc. I am concerned about the "heart murmur" and the fact
that you state that your doctor has said your heart is ok. If you have
a true murmur how bad is it? You should have a thorough exam by
a cardiologist as there are many explanations for your symptoms;
some very simple and non life threatening and others more life
threatening. One test that may be suggested is a cardiac cath
eterization which will tell what degree of a murmur you have,
also will show the amount of regurgitation of the heart valve that
is causing the "murmur". Also, an Electrocardiogram(EKG) may
also be suggested and this will diagnose the electrical functioning of your heart and if there are any concerns. My main suggestion to you is to not take these symptoms lightly, but to continue to
pursue experts until you get a satisfactory answer. In this case, what you don't know can definitely hurt you!

Get checked for asthma, but also have the doctor check your heart for a murmur, blockage, or some form of heart disease. I have asthma and it is similar but it sounds more like your heart or a combo of the two. My coworker was treated for asthma with so-so results until he was sent to a heart specialist and they found a murmur and blockage. He is now great once they fixed the blockage and did a bit of repair to help the murmur. I have a heart murmur too, but it is a slight one that I was born with, so they said no problem with it for now. Ask your doctor for a stress test and an ekg to see if it could be heart related (and this can happen at any age and either gender).
Of course there are many things that can cause your symptoms. I put links on for you to check out. I hope your situation improves, nothing scarier than thinking you can not get air! Been there, done that.

Hi softballin - SOB (or shortness of breath) can be very alarming. I can't do better than suggest you go with still learnin's recommendations; a CBC (complete blood count) would rule out anemia, but that wouldn't account for the rest of it. Changing, forgetting to take, or eliminating medications "cold turkey" could also raise or lower your blood pressure which would bring on dizziness.
I'm very concerned that your doctor who "couldn't figure it out" didn't talk to you about seeing a cardiologist/heart specialist. Ask your health plan representative for a recommendation of a cardiologist in your area, get the stress test, and whatever else the cardiologist recommends, including an angiogram. The fact that you're in very good shape will help with a faster recovery. God bless you and better health to you.

Well,
try talking extremely deep breathes, and after you are bending down don't come straight away, I have the same problem, I get dizzy if I do that. Sometimes it can jsut be the body struggling under stress and emotional distress, try dealing with yourself and figure out what mental problems you need to face.
Hope this Helps

they very well could be on to something with the asthma. when you say you are in very good shape, do you do a lot of cardio? sometimes being muscular without doing cardio is like running a large vehicle with a lawnmower engine. i get short of breath when its really hot too, the body has trouble handling the workload under intense conditions, you might try a sports drink (ack i hate saying that) with them having a bit of sodium and potassium in them to replace what you are sweating out.
