Well, since there are an infinite amount of ways everybody's life can turn out and that nobody has or ever will live the same life the only commonality for everyone is DEATH. (I won't say birth because that is a whole other bag of worms as to when life starts). Since many people are citing specific religions, we exclude those in the world who aren't of that faith. Does that mean they don't pursue or count in the meaning of life? On a purely absolute scale, no matter what race, colour, creed, religion, ability or disability, in utero or born, old, young, or any other possible variable, death is the only constant. Therefore, the answer to the question that applies to all humans is death.

I wish I could "reach out and touch" some of those folks who just tried to answer your question. I don't proclaim to have all the answers either, but I certainly have a few that none of them seem to have. There is a God, notice that was a capital G and not just god like some before me have entered here. God placed us here on Earth to be happy and learn, and then to be happy with Him in heaven. Anyone that doesn't realize that, or understand that concept, needs to start visiting a Christian church of their choice. I happen to be a Catholic myself and so I can really recommend that faith. But any Christian church would likely give you some insight on "the meaning of life."

I'm a Muslim and Allah(God in English) says that I created you only to worship me. So our purpose of life is to worship our Lord without any partners. We are no here only to sleep, Eat and work. I wish you'll understand the meaning of life in this way.

Why do we all think there has to be a meaning? Maybe god just put us here to take care of his creation like he said. Maybe that's all there is to it? People are part of the equation, so people should be taking care of people too. Hmmmmmmmmmmm. Makes you think, right?
