What is your experience? Would you recommend it or not and why? Are there issues (ie: lack of privacy, meddling, etc) that affect the marriage?

If I had to live with either one of our parents when I was young and first married, I would not have gotten married! Marriage is about getting the heck away from your parents' and their home, their rules and having a home with rules and a place of your own.

I would NEVER recommend staying with in-laws for more than one or (at the most) 2 weeks at a time! Let's put it this way, the house that you would be moving into, would already have a "boss" and/or "a lady of the house" as long as you live with your parents, you will never be a married couple except in name, one of you will always be their kid, and you can bet your boots it can cause problems and resentment that will not easily be healed for a good relationship between the couple and the parents who have to help support you when you are supposed to be on your own!

Don't do it!

I did it for one month when moving a long distance to be closer to his family. The mother in law nearly had us at each others throats within only a few days. I wouldn't suggest it.

I could live w/my parents and my husband would probably be okay with it for awhile, but not long term. On the other hand if we'd ever had to live w/his parents I would have divorced him in under a month.

yes the marraige needs to grow and if you are living with one of your parents then you need to set up more time to communicate and express what extra tolls and stains this is putting on your relationship. use this to time to deepen your lines of communication, which will strength the bonds of trust.
