Im getting braces and im really scared. Should I be? Can you please tell me what they do and wht it feels like? THANK YOU

Don't be scared, hun. It's not that bad. They'll hurt for the first few days, but after that you should be okay. Pain killers may elp, but make sure you don't get an overdose. Your gaging should not affect the braces, so do not worry.
They're fine!

girl it doesn't hurt that bad just like a day b/c your teeth aren't used to it, just take some advil or something. plus they will give you wax later on to use b/c some wires sometimes pop out and they can't get to you right away so you put the wax on the end of the wire....you use it for the brackets also when they are rubbing against the inside of your mouth and it hurts....sometimes like after 6 mon or so they will tighten the wires and give you rubberbands but like i said on;y hurts for like a day you have to remember your teeth are moving and adjusting it wears off just keep advil around. i had braces for a yr when i was 13 i love my teeth now ....good luck to you ....hope this has helped you :)

they hurt like hell. im gonna tell it to you straight. i got braces on Valentines day of this year and they hurt like hell for 2 or 3 weeks. make sure you have plenty of soup and ice cream, that is all ur gonna eat for a looooong time. what they do is straighten you teeth out, when you get a chain, it hurts even worse, it closes all your gaps but it still hurts. after everytime you get your braces tightened, you teeth will hurt for about 2 or 3 weeks, it depends on your pain tolerance. in the long haul though, they are definately worth it

I just got my braces off a couple of weeks ago... I wouldn't be scared... Mine didn't hurt very much except for the day after I got them... Actually, it didn't really hurt but my teeth were just sensitive. Don't be worried about it. Before you know it, it will be time to get your braces off.

basically braces break down your jaw and reform it to a striaghter jaw. I have braces and they havent really hurt since i got them a year ago. you shouldnt be scared because they dont hurt at all most of the time unless you get them tightened which will hurt for a day or 2 and thats it. getting them put on shouldnt hurt

It doesn't hurt when you barely get them on but maybe like the next day it hurts your gums for probably a week.
But they put this metal thing on the last tooth (only on the bottom) it kind of hurts, nothing to be scared of though.
To me, the part that hurts most was taking them off.

i think you should get the invisaline braces they dint heart as bad. it is more expansive but its worth it

get lots of pain killers, for the first days. and plenty of wax, but don't worry you'll get used to them.
