I still don't get why people are freaking out over $600 bucks. Yes it's a lot ( I wish I could just throw that money out), but it's no more than a 360 will cost you if you equal it out to PS3. Here's How:

PS3: $600, includes Bluray drive, 60gb HDD, Wifi
360: $400, includes 20gb HDD
Add Wifi = $50 if you use the xbox adapter, $100 for the 360 version
Add an HD-DVD drive (Rumor says these are coming), my guess is at least $100 (more likely more than that)
Add 40gb to the Hard- Drive, Can't do at this time
So now the 360 at an alomost equal system is $50 less, and has a 40gb HDD difference which might be more than $50. Plus the HD-DVD drive will more than likely cost more than $100. Which means 360 may be more expensive. If you add in XBL costs to PS3's free (at this point) online system, you are paying more for 360.

The only difference is MS allowed you to choose what you would need (which I think is a much smarter plan), Sony made you pay it up front.

And no, buying from Sony will not save you any cash on the system. If you buy on a military base you won't pay tax though!

Nope. The company is already taking a loss at $600. Just be glad you don't live in Japan. Rumor has it that Sony is letting stores charge whatever they want for the "$599" version.
