No the two messangers are incompatible. I use GAIM which allows me to have multiple IM clients all in one file, you can even have the same person across different IM clients (if you have a friend on MSN and Yahoo you can group it under one name and pick and choose which messanger you use).

You cannot talk to MSN pals on Yahoo Messenger nor vice versa. However, Trillian Basic is a program that allows you to talk to MSN, Yahoo, ICQ, and AIM pals all at once. It works by having you sign in to all of these accounts at the same time and it will upload the buddy list. However, be warned that some of the specific features that come with each invidividual IM program will not be found in Trillian. You can download it at www.trillian.cc (select the free version), or you can also download it at www.pcworld.com/52516 (this site is a bit more easier to find the download.)

you would have to send them an invite from Yahoo messenger, which means that they would have to also get a Yahoo messenger. Some areas won't accept a download of Yahoo messenger. I met a friend who I tried to add to Yahoo and the area she lives in wouldn't accept it so now I have friends in Yahoo and 1 in MSN..pain in the butt! Good luck..maybe you will get other answers that will help you out more, this is just from my experience

they working on it to make it compatible. hang in there. i have the same problem but i refuse to use msn lol. i just dont wanna use it. so i use trillian to use my homtail account
trillian can hold multiple accounts for AIM, Y! and MSN.
