Are America and Malaysia slightly similar countries because both country flags have red and white stripes?

I know that Malaysia an asian country and America are different countries. But my question is what's with the similar pattern (of their flags) of the red and white stripes and blue corner background? Both Malaysian flag and American flag has a blue background corner( except the American flag has 50 stars w/ blue background and Malaysian flag has a star and a crescent shaped moon w/ background).

Any similarities between these two countries?

No.. The colors and graphics have specific meaning to each individual county. The US flag consists of thirteen horizontal stripes, seven red alternating with 6 white. The stripes represent the original 13 colonies, the stars represent the 50 states of the Union. The colors of the flag are symbolic as well: Red symbolizes Hardiness and Valor, White symbolizes Purity and Innocence and Blue represents Vigilance, Perseverance and Justice
