go and chat with the piercer and tell him/her you want to get (insert body part here) pierced and you want some info on how to take care of it and such. and if there is another customer in there, talk to them and ask them how it was.A professional place will be happy to inform you. you may want to call ahead to ensure that they arent too busy.

Take a tour around before getting anything pierced. Does the place look and smell clean? Do the piercers use a clean pair of rubber gloves and fresh needles every time they do a new piercing? Are other people who have been there satisfied with their piercings and service? Is the staff friendly and approachable? Consider all these things, and if any of them is a no, then go elsewhere.

ok first you need to ask them what they use if they use a gun DO NOT go there you also need to ask if they reuse needles no place should do that they need to open a new needle everytime other then that the best way to find out is either ask the people who work there research online or ask around
cartilage piercings are really easy to care for but that doesnt mean you can get away with not cleaning it so make sure to keep it clean and DONT touch it unless your cleaning it i also reccomend taking asprin to the help the pain

good luck!

Go to a shop, ask to speak to the piercer, ask tons of questions including what method of sterilization they use (autoclave, or for cold sterilization tattoocide, medicide or some other chemical ending in cide), what type of jewelry (titanium or surgical stainless steel 316 LVM implant grade), where they did their apprenticeship (as long as they have an answer you should be fine) and for how long (at least 6 months). If at any point they can't answer your questions leave and go somewhere else.
Also ask to see the piercers portfolio, if they say it was stolen do not beleive them. If for any reason they do not have one leave. Ask to see documentation that they have had blood bourne pathogens training and first aid training.
And good for you that you are smart enough to look for someone good.
Thank you, you have restored my faith in humanity.

I don't know about this, but I think licensing is required (not sure). Otherwise, see if they sterilize their equipment.

Usual signs that it isn't a good place is if they don't clean what they use and/or if they are willing to do the work elsewhere like at a person's house.

by getting referrals from family members and friends which recommend certain places of business is your first step. Also, check with your business relations office in your area for companies that may have some complaints against them. Good Luck on your search!!

Ask around. Any business's best advertisements is word of mouth. So ask your friends if they know of anyone in your area. Alot of times The piercer will have photos of the work they've done.

Ask them for references. They should be able to give you names and numbers of at least 5 people.
