No it isn't weird. It makes perfect sense. A fan isn't just for cooling in the summer, but it circulates the air indoors, and it can save money on utilities all year around by having them on.

At night, not only will it circulate the air and making it cooler, but it will also provide with white noise shielding you (by the most part depending on the fan) from outside noises. Box fans are perfect for that, btw.

I either have to have a fan on or turn on the AC window unit or I can not sleep . Even in the dead of winter when it is freezing cold I have to have it on.
My Nana always had to have the TV on even if the station had signed off , but she would wake up if music came on.

No, I have the same problem...I have to have a fan on when I sleep! Everyone thinks it's weird that I have to have that to sleep, but I don't think so. I don't like it silent...it's kinda creepy! I even have to have one in the winter...i just put it on low and direct it away from me, haha! So you aren't alone :)

My husband and I both have to have the fan on or we can't sleep. If the electric goes off we'll wake up, cause the fan is off. I don't think it's weird at all. And yes, it's on all year.

OMG! Seriously I'm the same way. Even in the dead of winter, my fan is on.
I need some type of noise to help me sleep, the silence is just deafening!

Yes, me too. Only it's not a fan, it's an air purifier. I can't sleep without the sound.
