Big wormy thing? Could I trouble you for the name of the enemy? My FFX knowledge is fading...
However, general tips...
1) Fight a bit more so that you can stregthen your characters more on the Sphere Grid
2) Don't be afraid to switch characters when you need to...
3) Summons might be useful to inflict/soak up damage.

Hit it with poison and darkness
darkness will make it miss and poison will mean it loses a bunch of HP when it does attack
